For the topping:

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled & chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk (adjust for desired creaminess)
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: ¼ cup grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook potatoes: Boil until tender (15–20 min), then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cook filling:
    • Brown ground meat in a skillet with onions and garlic.
    • Stir in tomato paste, vegetables, Worcestershire, thyme, salt, and pepper.
    • Sprinkle in flour and stir; add broth and simmer until thickened (5–7 min).
  4. Assemble:
    • Spread meat mixture in a baking dish.
    • Top evenly with mashed potatoes.
    • Optional: sprinkle cheddar on top.
  5. Bake 20–25 min until topping is golden and slightly crispy.
