Classic Pico de Gallo Recipe

Ingredients (makes ~2 cups):

  • 3 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 jalapeños, seeded & minced (adjust for heat)
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste

Optional:

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions:

    • In a bowl, mix tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and garlic (if using).
  2. Season & add lime
    • Squeeze lime juice over the mixture.
    • Add salt to taste. Mix well.
  3. Chill & serve
    • Let sit 10–15 minutes to let flavors meld.
    • Serve fresh with tacos, grilled meats, or tortilla chips.

  • Use ripe but firm tomatoes to avoid watery pico.
  • Seed jalapeños for milder heat; leave seeds for extra kick.
  • Can add diced avocado or cucumber for variation.
  • Best eaten the same day for maximum freshness.
