Ingredients (serves 4–6)

Meatloaf

  • 1½ lb (680 g) ground beef (80/20 works best)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or parsley

Glaze

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard (optional but good)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C. Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Soak crumbs: Mix breadcrumbs and milk; let soak 1–2 minutes.
  3. Mix meat: Add egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, seasonings, and ground beef. Mix gently — don’t overwork.
  4. Shape: Place mixture in loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet.
  5. Top with glaze: Mix glaze ingredients and spread over the loaf.
  6. Bake: 55–65 minutes, until internal temp reaches 160°F / 71°C.
  7. Rest: Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
