Classic Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
  2. Cream butter & sugar:
    Beat together until very light and fluffy (this is key for texture).

  4. Add dry ingredients:
    Gradually mix in flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Flavor:
    Stir in vanilla.
  6. Bake:

  7. Cool:
    Let cool in pan 15 minutes, then turn out onto a rack.
