Sweet heat honey pickled garlic

Posted on January 15, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a recipe for Sweet-Heat Honey Pickled Garlic—a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy that works as a snack, condiment, or topping 🍯🌶🧄

🍯 Sweet-Heat Honey Pickled Garlic

Ingredients (makes ~1 pint jar)

  • 1 cup garlic cloves, peeled
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust for heat)
  • Optional: 1 tsp whole black peppercorns

Instructions

1. Prepare the Garlic

  1. Peel fresh garlic cloves (about 10–12 large cloves).
  2. Blanch garlic in boiling water for 1–2 minutes to reduce sharpness. Drain.

2. Make Pickling Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan, combine vinegar, water, honey, salt, red pepper flakes, and peppercorns.
  2. Heat gently until honey dissolves, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.

3. Pickle the Garlic

  1. Place garlic cloves in a sterilized jar.
  2. Pour warm syrup over garlic, making sure cloves are fully submerged.
  3. Let cool to room temperature, then seal the jar.

4. Wait & Store

  • Refrigerate for at least 3–5 days before eating—this allows flavors to meld.
  • Can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 months.

💡 Tips

  • Adjust heat: Add more or less red pepper flakes to taste.
  • Extra flavor: Add a slice of fresh ginger or a few sprigs of thyme.
  • Serving ideas:
    • As a condiment for cheese or charcuterie boards
    • Toss in salads or roasted vegetables
    • Add to sandwiches or stir-fries

If you want, I can give a hotter, Korean-style sweet-spicy honey garlic pickle that uses chili flakes and garlic for a real kick.

Do you want me to do that?
