Meatloaf

Here’s a classic Meatloaf recipe 🍖—tender, flavorful, and comfort food at its best:


Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus more for topping)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven

  • Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.

2. Mix the meatloaf

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
  2. Mix until well combined (but don’t overwork the meat).

3. Shape and bake

  1. Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape.
  2. Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for a glossy finish.
  3. Bake for 45–60 minutes until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should be 71°C / 160°F).

4. Serve

  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, veggies, or your favorite sides.

💡 Tips

  • If you want a juicy meatloaf, make sure not to overmix.
  • For extra flavor, you can add grated cheese or finely chopped vegetables (carrots, bell peppers) to the mix.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day!
