Easy Baked Beans

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) navy beans or white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (adjust for sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, adds depth)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder (optional for smoky flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook aromatics
    • In a skillet, sautĂ© onions and garlic for 3–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Mix sauce
    • In a bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  4. Combine with beans
    • Add beans and sautĂ©ed onions/garlic to the sauce. Stir well.
  5. Bake
    • Transfer the mixture to a small baking dish.
    • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and thickened.
  6. Serve warm
    • Great as a side with burgers, hot dogs, breakfast, or on toast.

💡 Tip: For a faster version, you can skip the oven and just simmer everything in a pot on the stove for 15–20 minutes until thickened.
