⚠️ First—important truth
Baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate) is not a recommended treatment for dark spots by dermatologists. It is very alkaline and can irritate skin if used incorrectly.
It may slightly exfoliate, but it can also make pigmentation worse if overused.
🧴 If you STILL want to try it (safe method)
1. Gentle spot treatment (not full face)
How to use:
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Add a few drops of water → make thin paste
- Apply ONLY on dark spot
- Leave for 30 seconds to 1 minute (max 2 min)
- Wash off with cool water
- Apply moisturizer immediately
🕒 Use: only 1–2 times per week
2. Safer version (with honey)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon honey (Honey)
Steps:
- Mix gently
- Apply on spot
- Leave 3–5 minutes
- Wash off and moisturize
👉 Honey reduces irritation
⚠️ What NOT to do
- ❌ Don’t use daily
- ❌ Don’t scrub hard
- ❌ Don’t apply on whole face
- ❌ Don’t leave overnight
- ❌ Don’t use on acne or broken skin
🌿 Better & proven options (recommended)
If your goal is fading dark spots, these work much better:
✔️ Vitamin C serum
- Brightens skin
- Reduces pigmentation
✔️ Niacinamide cream
- Reduces dark patches
- Improves skin tone
✔️ Sunscreen (VERY important)
- Prevents spots from getting darker
- Most important step
🧠 Bottom line
- Baking soda = risky, weak result
- May irritate skin if misused
- Better to use proven skincare instead
