Here’s a classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich 🥪🧀—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside.
Ingredients (per sandwich)
- 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your favorite)
- 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or a mix)
- 1–2 tsp butter, softened
Instructions
- Butter the bread:
Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. - Assemble the sandwich:
Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, so the buttered sides are on the outside. - Cook:
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the sandwich in the pan.
- Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Press lightly with a spatula to get an even crust.
- Serve:
Slice in half and enjoy hot with soup, fries, or just on its own.
Tips & Variations
- Extra cheesy: Use 2–3 types of cheese or add mozzarella for stretchiness.
- Add-ins: Tomato slices, ham, bacon, or avocado.
- Crispier: Grill on medium-low heat longer for an even crunch without burning.
- Healthier: Use whole-grain bread and less butter, or spray pan with oil spray.
I can also give a gourmet version with multiple cheeses and toppings or a quick microwave version if you want.
