1. Prepare the cabbage

  • Carefully separate large cabbage leaves.
  • Boil them in salted water for 3–5 minutes until soft.
  • Drain and let them cool.

2. Make the filling

  • In a bowl, mix:
    • minced meat
    • rice
    • chopped onion & garlic
    • egg
    • parsley, salt, pepper
  • Combine well.

3. Assemble the rolls

  • Place a portion of filling onto each cabbage leaf.
  • Fold the sides inward and roll tightly (like a burrito).

4. Lightly brown

  • In a pan with olive oil, gently brown the rolls on all sides.
  • Set aside.

5. Make the sauce

  • In the same pan:
    • sauté onion and carrot
    • add tomatoes and cook down
    • pour in white wine (optional)
    • add broth and simmer

6. Cook everything together

  • Place cabbage rolls into the sauce.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 30–40 minutes.
