Chocolate brownie

Here’s a classic, fudgy chocolate brownie recipe 🍫—rich, gooey, and easy to make.


Ingredients (for 9×9-inch pan)

  • ½ cup (115 g) butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Let cool slightly.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a bowl, whisk melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add dry ingredients: Stir in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  5. Optional add-ins: Fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
  6. Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake 20–25 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out slightly fudgy (not wet).
  7. Cool & cut: Let cool before cutting into squares.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra fudgy: Reduce flour to ⅓ cup.
  • Cakey brownies: Bake 25–30 minutes.
  • Cheesecake brownies: Swirl cream cheese into the batter before baking.
  • Microwave quickie: Use a mug, 3–4 tbsp butter, 3 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp flour, 1 tbsp cocoa, and 1 egg—microwave 1–2 minutes.
