Kielbasa Potato Soup

Posted on April 6, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a hearty, flavorful guide for Kielbasa Potato Soup, perfect for a cozy meal:

🥘 What It Is

Kielbasa Potato Soup is a creamy, comforting soup made with smoked kielbasa sausage, potatoes, and vegetables. The smoky sausage adds rich flavor, and the potatoes make it filling and hearty.

🍴 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb (450 g) smoked kielbasa, sliced
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3–4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk or cream (optional for creaminess)
  • 2 carrots, diced (optional)
  • 2 celery stalks, diced (optional)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

🔥 Instructions

  1. Sauté kielbasa in a large pot until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic in the same pot until translucent.
  3. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, broth, and paprika. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15–20 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  4. Return kielbasa to the pot. Stir in milk or cream if using, and simmer for another 5–10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of cheese if desired.

💡 Tips

  • For extra flavor, add a bay leaf while simmering and remove before serving.
  • Mash a few potatoes in the pot for a thicker, creamier soup.
  • Use low-sodium broth to keep it heart-friendly.

If you like, I can make a senior-friendly version that’s easier to chew and lower in sodium but still rich in flavor.

Do you want me to do that?
