Here’s a simple and flavorful pepper steak recipe 🥩🌶️—perfect for a quick dinner:


🥩 Pepper Steak

Ingredients (2–3 servings)

  • 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, sliced thin against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced (any color)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper (or more to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef
    • Toss beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside 10–15 minutes.
  2. Cook beef
    • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over high heat.
    • Quickly sear beef until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook vegetables
    • Add remaining oil. Sauté onions and bell peppers 2–3 minutes until slightly soft.
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Make sauce & combine
    • Add beef back to pan.
    • Stir in beef broth, remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and black pepper.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and beef is cooked through.
  5. Serve
    • Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.
    • Serve over rice or noodles.

⭐ Tips & Variations

  • Spicy: add chili flakes or Sriracha
  • Thicker sauce: mix 1 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp water and stir in at the end
  • Vegetable boost: add mushrooms, broccoli, or snow peas
  • Air fryer prep: you can quickly sear beef in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 4–5 min before combining with veggies
