Ingredients (8ā10 servings)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
- ¼ tsp cloves or allspice (optional)
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup oil or melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: ½ cup raisins or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven: 180°C / 350°F. Grease a cake pan.
- Mix dry ingredients: Flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- Mix wet ingredients: Applesauce, oil/butter, eggs, and vanilla.
- Combine: Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Add extras: Fold in raisins or nuts if using.
- Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake 35ā40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
