Applesauce cake

šŸŽ Applesauce Cake (Moist & Spiced)

This is a soft, flavorful cake that stays super moist thanks to applesauce—no fancy steps needed.


Ingredients (8–10 servings)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ tsp cloves or allspice (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup oil or melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ cup raisins or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 180°C / 350°F. Grease a cake pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: Applesauce, oil/butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Combine: Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Add extras: Fold in raisins or nuts if using.
  6. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake 35–40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool & serve: Let cool before slicing.

Tips

  • Dust with powdered sugar or top with cream cheese frosting.
  • Great as a snack cake or lunchbox treat.
  • Can be made egg-free using 2 tbsp extra applesauce per egg.
