🧅 Onion Rings (Crispy & Golden)
Classic crunchy onion rings—great as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp paprika or garlic powder (optional)
- ¾–1 cup milk
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare onions:
- Separate onion slices into rings and set aside.
- Make batter:
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
- Slowly whisk in milk until you get a thick, smooth batter.
- Heat oil:
- Heat oil in a deep pan to medium-high (about 175°C / 350°F).
- Coat onions:
- Dip onion rings into batter, letting excess drip off.
- Fry:
- Fry in batches 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with a little salt.
- Serve:
- Serve hot with ketchup, mayo, or ranch dip.
Tips
- For extra crunch, dip rings in breadcrumbs after battering.
- You can bake them at 220°C / 425°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use sweet onions for a milder flavor.
