Here’s a teen-friendly, easy recipe for Beef and Broccoli—a classic, tasty stir-fry you can make at home! 🥩🥦

Ingredients (serves 2–3)

For the beef:

  • 1/2 lb (225 g) beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1–2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, or use more soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef or chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for thickening)

Veggies:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp oil for cooking

Optional: Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the beef:
    • Toss beef slices with 1–2 tsp soy sauce and 1 tsp cornstarch. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the broccoli:
    • Steam or blanch broccoli for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the beef:
    • Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add beef and stir-fry 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from pan.
  4. Make the sauce:
    • In the same pan, add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
    • Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and broth, then pour into the pan.
    • Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
  5. Combine:
    • Return beef and broccoli to the pan. Toss to coat with the sauce and heat through.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Tips:

  • Tender beef: Slice thinly against the grain and don’t overcook.
  • Extra flavor: Add a splash of sesame oil or sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Quick version: Use pre-cooked frozen broccoli to save time.

It’s basically savory, slightly sweet beef with crisp-tender broccoli in a glossy sauce—perfect for a fast dinner or lunch!

I can also give a super quick 15-minute version for teens that uses one pan and tastes just as good.

Do you want me to do that?
