Basic Baked Potato Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 large potato (commonly Russet potato)
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt
  • Optional toppings: cheese, sour cream, butter, herbs

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 200 Β°C (400 Β°F).
  2. Wash and dry the potato well.
  3. Prick it 4–6 times with a fork (so steam can escape).
  4. Rub with oil and salt for crispy skin.
  5. Bake directly on the rack for 45–60 minutes until soft inside.
  6. Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add toppings.
