🥔🍖 Potato Meatball Bake (Easy & Comforting)
Ingredients
- 500 g (about 1 lb) potatoes, peeled & sliced
- 300–400 g meatballs (beef, chicken, or veggie)
- 1 cup tomato sauce or pasta sauce
- ½ cup cream or milk (optional, for creamier bake)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt & pepper
- Optional: garlic powder, paprika, dried herbs
Steps
- Heat oven to 190°C / 375°F.
- Boil potato slices in salted water 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain.
- Lightly oil a baking dish.
- Layer half the potatoes, season with salt & pepper.
- Add meatballs evenly on top.
- Pour tomato sauce (and cream if using) over everything.
- Add remaining potatoes and sprinkle cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake 10–15 minutes more until bubbly and golden.
Tips & Variations
- Add onions or bell peppers for extra flavor 🧅🫑
- Use mashed potatoes instead of slices for a pie-style bake
- Sprinkle herbs or chili flakes on top if you like mild spice
