A baked potato is a whole potato cooked in the oven until the skin is crisp and the inside is soft and fluffy. It’s simple, filling, and highly customizable.

  • Russet potatoes are ideal because they’re starchy and bake up fluffy inside.
  • Yukon Gold works too, but will be creamier and less fluffy.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash & dry the potato thoroughly.
  3. Pierce 5–6 times with a fork (prevents bursting).
  4. Rub with oil and sprinkle with salt for crispy skin.
  5. Bake directly on rack (or on a tray) for 45–60 minutes, until fork-tender.
  6. Slice open, fluff with fork, add toppings.

⚡ Faster Methods

  • Microwave: 5–8 minutes (turn halfway), then crisp in oven 10 minutes.
  • Air fryer: 400°F (200°C) for 35–45 minutes.

🌟 Tips for Perfect Results
