🫘 Homemade Baked Beans

🧾 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

  • 4 cups cooked navy beans (or 2 cans, drained & rinsed)
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped (optional)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½–1 cup water (as needed)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2️⃣ Cook Bacon & Onion

  • In a skillet, cook bacon until lightly crisp.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until soft.

3️⃣ Mix

  • In a baking dish, combine beans, bacon mixture, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.
  • Stir well. Add a little water if mixture seems too thick.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Cover and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes until thick and bubbly.

🔥 Flavor Variations

  • Add diced bell peppers for extra texture.
  • Stir in a pinch of chili powder for heat.
  • Use maple syrup instead of molasses for a different sweetness.

💡 Tips

  • For deeper flavor, let beans rest 10–15 minutes before serving.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day.
  • Store refrigerated up to 4 days.
