Túrós csusza

Posted on December 31, 2025 by Admin

Ah, túrós csusza! That’s a classic Hungarian comfort dish made with noodles, cottage cheese (túró), and crispy bacon. It’s simple but incredibly satisfying—creamy, salty, and a little tangy.

Ingredients (for 4 servings)

  • 300–400 g Hungarian-style egg noodles (or any small pasta)
  • 250–300 g túró (cottage cheese can work if you don’t have túró)
  • 150 g bacon, diced
  • 2–3 tablespoons sour cream
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain.
  2. Cook bacon in a pan until crispy. Remove some fat if there’s too much, but keep a little for flavor.
  3. Mix noodles and cheese: While noodles are hot, crumble the túró over them so it softens and mixes in.
  4. Add sour cream and stir gently.
  5. Top with crispy bacon and a little of the reserved fat if desired.
  6. Serve warm—simple, rich, and comforting.

This dish is best fresh, and it’s a staple in Hungarian homes for a hearty, filling meal.

If you want, I can also give a tip to make the noodles extra creamy and the bacon perfectly crispy, which makes a huge difference. Do you want that?
