Here’s a classic onion ring recipe—crispy on the outside, sweet and tender inside 🧅

Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • 1–2 large onions (yellow or sweet)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into ½-inch rings and separate them.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk and egg.
  4. Dip onion rings into flour, then into milk mixture, then back into flour.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry onion rings in batches 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

Extra-Crispy Option

  • Use panko breadcrumbs after the batter
  • Or replace milk with buttermilk for extra crunch

Baked or Air-Fried

  • Oven: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15–20 min, flipping halfway
  • Air fryer: 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 min

Dipping Sauces

  • Ketchup
  • Ranch
  • Spicy mayo
  • BBQ sauce
