Here’s a simple and tasty Burrito recipe—you can make it with beef, chicken, or beans 🌯


Basic Burrito

Ingredients (makes 4 burritos)

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 lb cooked protein (ground beef, shredded chicken, or black beans)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup cooked or canned beans (optional)
  • ½ cup salsa or pico de gallo
  • ¼ cup sour cream (optional)
  • Lettuce, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning (if using meat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare filling
    • If using meat, cook with taco seasoning until fully cooked.
    • Warm beans and rice.
  2. Warm tortillas
    • Heat tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for 20 seconds until soft and pliable.
  3. Assemble burritos
    • Lay a tortilla flat. Add a layer of rice, protein, beans, cheese, salsa, and any optional toppings.
    • Fold sides over, then roll from bottom to top to seal.
  4. Optional: crisp burrito
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place burrito seam-side down and cook 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Serve
    • Serve warm with extra salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

Tips & Variations

  • Breakfast burrito: Scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, and potatoes.
  • Vegetarian: Use beans, rice, roasted veggies, and cheese.
  • Freezer-friendly: Wrap in foil and freeze; reheat in the oven.
  • Sauce it up: Add chipotle mayo, hot sauce, or enchilada sauce inside.
